Keynote and workshops from 2024
The last PUMA summer camp featured a top-class keynote speech and exciting workshops.
Keynote speech by Viola Klein, entrepreneur, founder, investor, benefactor
Viola Klein is an entrepreneur and philanthropist with heart and soul. After reunification, she started from scratch and founded the software company SAXONIA Bildungsinstitut together with her business partner Andreas Mönch in 1992 and SAXONIA Systems just two years later. Viola Klein is also Chairwoman of the HOPE Cape Town Foundation, a member of the Board of Trustees of the German AIDS Foundation, invests in start-ups and advises them.
Tackling, rethinking, adapting to market conditions, but not losing sight of the big picture and society: These are the qualities with which Viola Klein has mastered her path and which we certainly need in our marketing and communications practice.
“How recruitment learns to fly – from hidden champion to well-known aircraft factory”
with Anke Lemke, Head of Communications Elbe Flugzeugwerke GmbH Dresden back in 2024
In her workshop, Anke Lemke reported on her experiences in employer branding for recruitment. The focus was on the journey of an aircraft manufacturer that had long enjoyed an excellent reputation among its international customers, but was otherwise largely unknown, toward becoming a company that applicants in particular had on their radar.
Lemke described how the aircraft manufacturer gradually developed its current image. Participants learned how an image-building process works in practice and how to communicate an image that has a lasting impact and creates a unique selling point in recruitment. The subsequent practical part was interactive. Here, participants worked together to develop their own “employer story.”
“How to marketing conception – from the basics to individual strategies and measures”
with Christoph Schumacher, Director Communications at Infineon Dresden
In Christoph Schumacher’s workshop, participants learned more about marketing concepts. First, they were introduced to the basics of this discipline, which is crucial for the communication of companies, products and services: sound analyses of their own market and target groups, smart structuring of objectives, promising strategic planning, the selection of suitable measures and channels, as well as implementation, success monitoring and continuous development.
In the subsequent group work, participants created their own marketing concept. The collected results and insights were then presented to each other and evaluated, and recommendations for everyday marketing practice were derived from them.
“Organization of an influencer event – exemplary for a region, adapted to your company”
with Benjamin Brunner, Marketing Manager at Regional Management Erzgebirge
Someone who uses a hammer and mallet emoji in their LinkedIn profile must have just got it: Benjamin Brunner is Marketing Manager at Regional Management Erzgebirge. Born there, he initially left his home region in 2006 and spent a total of 15 years working in cross-media on the agency and corporate side – until the “abstinence” became too much and he was drawn back to his home region. “It was the hERZ,” says Benni. And that’s exactly what burns every day in his job.
In his workshop, he reported on the past year and a half, which had been packed with creative initiatives. The most recent of these was the organization of an influencer event. Benni explained how he managed it, what impact it had on the perception of the region, and what this could look like for participants and their day-to-day work. It was, quite simply, “hammermäßig.”
“Short films on TikTok – a guide without much palaver”
Introduction with Albin Linke and Jonas Tech from BLACKOUT
Do you already have TikTok on your radar? Project and Social Media Manager Tom Riechardt is bold and claims: If you don’t move with the times, you will move with the times! He built up his DJ and producer brand “Tommyrich” mainly with TikTok and now has 60,000 subscribers. In addition to promoting his music, he has even set up his own merchandise store with over 150 products.
He was happy to share tips for achieving this kind of success and had founded the TikTok agency BLACKOUT together with Managing Director Albin Linke and videographer Jonas Tech. They left no doubt that marketing could no longer work without short-form video. In their workshop at the PUMA summer camp, they did not make a long plea for the platform, but instead analyzed existing TikTok channels, looked at participants’ specific cases and showed examples of which topics worked on TikTok — and which did not. They also shared tips on how to implement short videos easily without exceeding participants’ own capacity or budget limits.

Background to the PUMA summer camp
As we already had a loyal fan base with our regular PUMA Stammtisch, we thought: Let’s do something new. Just as exciting, insightful and entertaining, only bigger. And lo and behold: the PUMA Barcamp (now summer camp) was born! The premiere was at the end of June 2023. The ARCOTEL HafenCity Dresden was the perfect backdrop for enlightening workshops, talks, discussions, cozy get-togethers and, of course, lots of learning, networking and fun.
A high-caliber panel of workshop leaders sweetened the first PUMA Barcamp for our guests and us. Jürgen Schmitt – the well-known influencer face of Deutsche Bank – kicked things off. He introduced his workshop participants to the secrets of corporate influencing in an amusing way. In her workshop, Daniela Kauf, Head of Corporate Communications at CAPRON GmbH, gave exclusive insights and tips on how to attract skilled workers with a regional employer brand. Finally, Dirk Spannaus from twentyZEN GmbH showed participants how automated processes can bring marketing up to date.
The breaks and the subsequent get-together were actively used by the participants to discuss the topics in greater depth and make new contacts. Of course, we also threw ourselves into the fray. The general conclusion: It was great! We definitely have to do something like this again!
